Magic Turf (formerly Town & Country Landscaping) was established in 1985 as a full service Grading and Turf Installation Company. Since then, we have grown into one of Minnesota's leading Athletic Field and Turf Contractors!
Our professional crewmembers have DECADES of experience and a true passion for our work!
Magic Turf was founded by Mike Brunelle in northern Minnesota, working evenings and weekends to service customers. Mike grew up working on his family's farm in Crookston, where they worked long and hard hours every day to complete all the job duties farm-life entails. Mike and his family moved to the Twin Cities Metro Area in the early 1990's, to expand their opportunities and the company he created.
His sons Jerrod and Eric started helping on projects during the summers and learning the trade early. As the years went by, the scope of projects grew more technical, specializing more in highly used athletic spaces.
Mike provided the solid foundation that Magic Turf was built upon and is credited for creating a company that employees are proud to be a part of, and customers can trust.
His work ethic, attention to detail, and outstanding customer service is top-notch, and has been instilled in every employee of the company. Customers grew to trust and rely upon the expertise and experience that Mike provided to all customers and projects. He is credited with the strong, positive reputation that the company holds and will continue to build as we continue working with repeat and new customers alike.
Jerrod spent the first 15 years of his career working for Magic Turf (Then Town & Country Landscaping), learning how to work hard, operate equipment, build customer relationships, and found his eye for detail.
Jerrod then spent some time with other organizations, honing his skills in outdoor operations and maintenance. He spent time with an outdoor athletic company as the Operations Manager, learning new ways to gain efficiencies and complete jobs.
He also spent time as the Parks & Forestry Manager with the City of Plymouth, where he oversaw the maintenance and operations of their vast park system, including more than 100 highly used athletic fields. He gained very valuable insight to the user's aspect of turf health and field safety.
Jerrod and his wife Jessi, purchased Magic Turf in Spring of 2021 with renewed enthusiasm and determination to continue the family business that he'd been a part of for years.
Herb has been around baseball for as long as he can remember. He spent his childhood helping his dad maintain the ballpark in Loretto and shagging foul balls at town team games. His experience with field maintenance at that time included mound repair, mowing, sodding, edging, and all the daily tasks needed to keep a field in top notch condition. He now oversees projects of all sizes to maintain and rehabilitate all kinds of athletic fields to keep them safe for all players.
After 17 seasons playing for the Loretto Larks, Herb hung up his cleats, but has continued his baseball career as a high school coach. When not at the ballpark, Herb enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
Will DuCharme is a Certified Turf Professional. After high school, Will found he had a passion for turf maintenance and attended Anoka Technical College and received a two-year degree in turf maintenance.
After college, Will became an assistant Superintendent at Majestic Oaks Golf Course and later worked as the Superintendent at Rum River Hills Golf Course in Ramsey for 18 years. During Will’s time at Rum River Hills Golf Course he went on to further his education by obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Turf Science from Penn State.
After Rum River Hills Golf Course, Will moved to the City of Plymouth in the Parks Department, specializing in turf health and athletic field maintenance. This is where Will and Jerrod had a chance to work together for the first time on many projects, such as field renovations, soil corrections, fertilizer programs, pest management, and much more. Plymouth gave him the opportunity to continue his passion in turf and ball field maintenance. Will was able to develop a water and IPM program for the fields and other common areas and helped to develop a cultural program for most of their football, baseball, soccer, and lacrosse fields.
